Old Man (Moss Head and Saddlestone Quarries.) Slate Mine (United Kingdom)

A large slate mine on the northern edge of the Coniston Old Man. Working has been going on for hunderads of years, starting off as simple cave workings and open pits, later developing into large underground chambers, one of which is well over 100ft in height. With it being quite isolated, there is still much track, and some interesting relics inside, such as an incline, an underground ropeway, a clog-winch, ladders, and an air reciever. Some of the older workings are of a much smaller, and packwalled design, whose paggageways are shattered from hunderads of years of erosion from in the easily split slate.
