Old End Mine was on the great Rake, and was worked for Lead originally and Fluorspar latterly. Until 1981 a ruined engine house marked the mine. It was sadly destroyed and all that remains is the concrete capped shaft. The mine reached 278m in depth and was one of the deepest shafts in Derbyshire. The mine was last worked H & C Hartshorne during WW2.
