Lanehead Limestone Quarry (United Kingdom)

One of the many Great Limestone quarries which line the valley sides in Weardale. The Lanehead quarry is to the West of Crawleyside Bank its counterpart to the East of the road being Ashes Quarry.
Three mineral veins run through the quarry and unworked pillars remain on two of them, while short holes in the quarry face are where pre-existing mine workings have been mostly quarried away. Rippon's level was driven below the limestone before the quarry was opened but the level mouth is buried and the level itself almost certainly caved.
