Gothic Lead Mine (United Kingdom)
Gothic mine is no more than a shaft today, between two paths which run parallel along the Rheidol Lake. The deep shaft is the only way into the mine today, for the adit was blocked probably when creating the lake.
Under the wide path the site of the old adit can be seen, a cutting leading to piled earth and water trickling out through it. The water must be low in the lake to access this point.
The main relic however is the old chain sticking out of the hillside by the path. It used to support a cable tramway over the valley to probably Tyllwyd mine which is right opposite.
