Cranford West (Clay Cross Co) Iron Mine (United Kingdom)
Started in 1873 by Sir John B Robinson, Cranford Ironstone Co from 1875, Clay Cross Co from 1908. Operated by quarrying and by pillar & stall method underground. the mines eventually closed in 1921 but not until the pillars had been robbed causing ground collapses and open holes to surface... this feature became well known locally.
