Britannia Coal Colliery (United Kingdom)

Employment at the Britannia Colliery hit a massive 1,120 men underground and 170 on the surface by 1934 with a considerable 400,000 tons of coal produced, and when Britannia was handed over to the National Coal Board in 1947 805 worked below the surface and 146 above. By 1954, manpower had ratcheted up to 898 men underground with an output of 330, 261 tons of coal.
