Barbary Mixed Mine (United Kingdom)

Major mine of the London Lead Company in Ireshopeburn village, later passing to the Beaumonts who drove the Horse Level at given grid ref. In 20th century, worked by Messrs. Blackwells for fluorspar, who extended the workings from the horse level by two inclines and eventually abandoned in 1934.
Barbary East incline was re-opened in 1953-54 by the Weardale Lead Co., again for fluorspar, but shut finally in 1959.
Neither the horse level nor the declines are now accessible (Source - Mindat)
