After carting batteries around in a series zip-seal bags which kept falling apart, I've invested in something a bit more upmarket.
At 49p for one; or 79p for a pair, these are hardly expensive, but they do the job perfectly.
I was looking for something as small as could be hold 4 AA batteries (or 4 AAA batteries, but they will roll around a bit) and this seems the answer. Although there are more expensive cases on the market, then tend to be larger in size and thus of less use if space is a consideration.

There are connectors on the top and bottom of each case that allows you to snap them together. Whilst this is probably a useful function, I slightly fail to see the circumstances under which is would be necessary.

The only potential flaw is that the cases aren't waterproof, but for 49p you can't expect that sort of thing. A quick test also revealed that there isn't enough air in the case to make it float when full, but that's not really of any importance.
In short, these are cheap and handy and will keep your spare batteries together and clean.
