Evening Dedicated to the Mining of Fluorspar in the North Pennines - to be held at St. John's Chapel Hall, Weardale
To mark the completion of the pilet stage of a project to record the memories of the people who worked the fluorspar industry in Weardale, Allenhead and the Rookhope and Derwent Valleys. An evening dedicated to fluorspar mining is being held at St John's Chapel Hall, Weardale, on Friday, May 10, from 07-3p.m.. A display of photographs is planned along with a showing of a Tyne Tees Documentary - "New Life in Old Veins " made in 1974.

Moel Fferna Trip May 2013
Open invite trip to Mel Fferna.
Moel Fferna is a spectacular mine with plenty to explore and photograph.
The entrance pitch will be rigged for SRT and with an electron ladder. So whilst not strictly an SRT trip you'll need to be happy climbing up and down an electron (wire) ladder whilst lifelined.

Ian Tyler - Cumbria Mining Heritage Walks 2013
All walks are guided by Ian Tyler, mine historian, author of 12 books on Cumbrian Mining and the former curator of the Keswick Mining Museum. Come and have a great day out in the fells off the beaten track whilst learning something about the industrial past of Cumbria, its not always been fluffy bunnies, Wainwright & pencils.
All walks start on a Sunday at 10.30 am prompt, returning about 4.30 and approx 6 miles duration. Decent footwear must be worn, don't forget the waterproofs in case and a packed lunch is a must.
