(click image to open full size image in new window) Made by David Kemp from the boots of miners at Geevor Tin Mine, these new sculptures are proving quite a talking point around the town! Geevor closed in 1990, effectively ending some 2000 years of tin mining in West Cornwall. Once boasting 400 workers, there were just 100 left when the mine closed, mainly due to a massive slump in the price of tin (falling from over £10,000 per tonne in the mid 1980s to £3,000 in the late 1980s).
