Calendar 2013 - Photographs wanted!

I know it's only July, but...

Given print deadlines and the usual amount of time it takes to put the AditNow calendar together, it's time for the first head-up for the 2013 calendar.

What's this about?

We're looking for photographic contributions for the calendar, according to the usual format i.e. 3 photographs of the same mine.

If possible, it's nice to have 4 or 5 to choose from, although we can usually cover a gap if you've got one fabulous photograph for the main picture and not much else.

Who?

Anyone can contribute photographs and if you're interested, please add your name to the thread below. This isn't an absolute promise to send something in, but I may be liable to chase you up as the deadline approaches!

It's not limited to people who post regularly on this forum and whether or not you've sent images before doesn't matter.

If there are more photographs submitted than there are months, there's no favouritism shown other than selecting the most appropriate pics, which may depend on geographic origin, whether or not the mine has been featured recently and so on.

If possible, I'd like to get 14 or 15 months' worth submitted to the designer, so apologies in advance to anyone who gets cut out after submitting photographs.

What's required?

Basically, the original photograph at full resolution, as large as possible. If it's been processed, a copy of the processed file plus the original as a RAW would be handy, along with the corresponding XMP file.

Each month contains three images (of the same location) and so if you can send 3 or 4 images of the same mine, then that's helpful. If you particularly favour one pic for the main image, then let us know which one it is.

The smaller photos don't need to be at such a high resolution, so don't worry too much about sending RAW files for these.

Finally, we need to know where the photographs were taken!

When?

Effectively, by the end of August would be much appreciated!

Good causes

All profits from the calendar will be donated to a mine-related good cause / charity - this is usually around £600. The choice of this is the subject of a different thread.

Copyright

In submitting photographs, you agree for them to be used in the 2013 calendar and you will be attributed by name. This is entirely royalty-free. Photographs will not be used for any other purpose.

Questions?

Please ask below!

What do I do now?!

Now's a good time to start looking through your photographs to see if you've got anything that you'd like to feature.

It's also a particularly good time to get out and underground* and take some damn fine photographs that can be submitted!

Once we've got a preliminary list of contributors, we'll post up the details for sending photographs through

Thank you!

The AditNow calendar is only possible thanks to those who go out and take the photographs; and to those who put their hands in the pockets to buy a copy and not just make it viable, but raise a fine some of money for a mine-related good cause every year.

The total raised to date is a little over £2,630 - which is a great credit to everyone: thank you! Flowers

* We do usually have one or two photographs taken above ground as well. Snowy scenes are nice for Christmas and it doesn't usually snow underground so they tend to be above ground. Also, given that it tends not to snow in summer, there's not much point in heading out now in the sole hope of capturing the Christmas photo...

Ill have a go at making a contribution, do all the shots have to be in landscape format ? not portrait?

Also underground or are surface workings and quarry shots of interest?

Landscape or portrait are fine - following some inspired rejigging of the format by Simon a couple of years back!

You've got a few weeks yet Thumbs Up Wink

On a more serious note, I'd really like to try to have the calendar finished by Hidden Earth (late September) - if I could take some copies they would sell on the day, and increase sales (and therefore profits to whatever good causes are selected) to people who probably don't visit this web site.

Any chance of Adit now christmas cards as well - I appreciate that the calendar maybe a big enough enterprise on its own...but it was discussed earlier in the year...I for one would buy some...would it be possible if you had enough interest?

No objection to looking at this but I think it might be on the basis of pre-orders to ensure there is the demand to justify it.

Calendar will be the focus of my attention over the next couple of months to ensure it works as a fund raiser again.
