Posted: 26/06/2012 21:50:27 Reply | Quote I know this is going over old ground a bit but that was ages ago... Anyhoo, my apparently bargainous Toolstation £13.90 wellies have decided that they don't approve of dry feet after about 10 trips. Unfortunately the leaks are splits rather than a minor hole so they need to be replaced. I'm blessed with wide feet & manly muscular calves (or so I like to tell myself) so I would like boots that are more on the generous proportions so I've got some chance of emptying the water back out. I quite like wellies in principle being used to the idea of wet feet so what is the word in the adit on the best rubber-esque footwear? -- So help me Mrs Medlicott, I don't know what to do, I've only got three bullets and there's four in Motley Crue IP: 31.52.221.29 |

Posted: 26/06/2012 22:18:50 Reply | Quote If I said mine were grey, would that help? Very grippy, comfy and so far they've lasted well. I bought a pair of Argyle wellies for above-ground use and they're the most dangerous, sloppiest things I have ever had the misfortune to wear on my feet. The sole upside is that they're also pretty much the most comfortable thing I've ever had as well -- Filling space until a new signature comes along... IP: 86.132.225.166 |

That said, I've never got more than a few months use out of a pair of wellies before they get sliced by a piece of slate and start shipping water -- Half the lies you tell ain't true IP: 217.35.224.9 |

Steel toecap (can be a bit heavy at times) and a steel sole liner so you won't get pranged by rusty nails from rotten bits of timber sitting under the water. Posted: 27/06/2012 10:36:34 Reply | Quote I've had a few pairs of Muck Boots, and though they are nice and warm on the feet when you're feeding ponies at 6.30 on a February morning and it's well below zero, I have found that the outer rubber coating is a bit thin and starts to split/crack, usually just after the 12-month guarantee is up. Patching up with shoe goo or similar is possible, but personally, I wouldn't say Muck Boots are tough enough for serious underground use and I'll stick with aciforts for underground. -- I am currently out of the office on leave and travelling through time but will respond to your message when I return last week.
