Friday 1 June 2012 10am - 4pm
Would you like to learn about traditional lime mortar - how it’s made and how it’s used? As part of its Living North Pennines project to consolidate the ruins of the nineteenth century buildings at Whitesykes and Bentyfield Mines, the AONB Partnership is offering a free day-long practical course. At Nenthead, specialist construction firm Heritage Consolidation will be demonstrating lime burning and slaking while at Whitesykes and Bentyfield Mines there will be opportunities to try lime pointing and dry stone walling.
Meet at Nenthead Mines Heritage Centre, Cumbria.
