Hi,
The obvious place is to use the Coran ferry and go to see the
Strontian lead/baryte mines these are extensive and some are accessible.
The land owner Black Dan is not too keen to let you underground but there are some places off the beaten track you can enter but be careful!
It is a few years since I was underground there but if you can do so it is very interesting.

*Strontian Mines: (see also Sunart Mines below)

Strontian Lead Mines NGR NM 833 657 Explorer Strontian, Argyllshire
Situated at Bellsgrove Lodge 3½ miles north-east of Strontian, Argyllshire. Worked since 1722, these mines were at their height at the time of the Napoleonic Wars, when the smelted lead was used for munitions . Lead was worked to a depth of over 600 feet and, although there are numerous levels, a hillside fissure over 1½ miles long, marks the surface outcrop of the vein.

The lead mines at the east end of Loch Sunart, NGR NM 84 61, were operating in 1720’s, soon after Sir Alexander Murray of Stanhope purchased from the estate. Although they were subsequently worked under many proprietors, well into the twentieth century, it is generally thought that they never showed the expected profits.
