Posted: 16/02/2012 08:34:23 Reply | Quote I've had a quick look at the Newcomen Soc archives and it may have been mentioned in a 1955 paper on the problems of preserving historic machinery, while there was a 2004 paper in the Industrial Archaeology Review about the excavation of the site: http://www.ingentaconnect.com/search/article?option1=tka&value1=fairbottom&pageSize=10&index=1 There's possibly another 1780s Newcomen engine still in-situ, but it's 500ft underground at Yatestoop mine in a chamber that's inaccessible.... -- I am currently out of the office on leave and travelling through time but will respond to your message when I return last week.
