anyone tell me if the travellers are still there?, I am hoping to photograph here in November and dont fancy going there if the travellers arestill around.

According to locals.... Tongue I have heard that air rifle pellets from long range at night at all sorts early AM hrs quite effective... dink dink....

As of this afternoon it's a yes. There are three caravans there with a number of dogs one of which was similar to the Hound of the Baskervilles. You can still get into the engine house (I didn't have time), and you can queeze past another caravan to the viewing platform as you can see.

Has anyone thought about doing an online vehicle check on
the van to see if it mot'd taxed and insured

from the photo i can see the reg number but not
sure what flavour of pikey van it is .

It appears the residents have abandoned their caravans and somebody has been systematically setting fire to them - there has been alot of black smoke on and off from this area. I dread to think what state this site is in now, might go past on my way to the mining games...

They must have been relatively rich whoever they were, they left the caravans behind and I saw them getting taxis to return here in the day time, even though it is 20 mins walk from the station and the Bus stop is 5 mins walk.
Will try to post my very grainy pictures (taken from 1/4 mile away) of the "smokin' at Williams shaft" soon.
