Posted: 16/05/2011 19:24:52 Reply | Quote On the 1893 OS it's marked as Ackton Hall & Featherstone Manor Collieries, though by 1907 it is simply Ackton Hall Colliery, and appears to stay that way. Linked on the surface by an extensive surface rail network to Featherstone Main Colliery. -- |

Posted: 17/05/2011 17:23:57 Reply | Quote There were the shafts for Ackton Hall Colliery as stated at Featherstone, where also the coal came out. There was also a manriding shaft on the outskirts of Ackworth on the left hand side of the road after leaving Ackworth towards Featherstone. The site now has a small housing estate on it with a couple of the old "officials" houses fronting the road IP: 92.11.163.25 |
