This is good to see. Although the blog says The work will feed into a new slate quarries publication which will be published by the Commission in conjunction with David Gwyn… watch this space for more information.

A member on here, Johnnearcfon, might be able to give more information, but I wonder is this working towards any attempt at preservation or purely for the book/publication?

It is a bit of both. Although it was prompted by Greaves' recent discussions with myself and Dafydd Gwyn regarding the future of the site. It was decided at an early point that before anything can be touched on site some kind of full survey needed to be done. Dafydd was able to persuade the RC to undertake this, at quite a rapid speed too! When he first suggested it I had visions of it taking months maybe even a year to organise, but it has been done in 3 to 4 months from first approaches to them. IP: 92.26.184.102

I was invited (along with Dafydd Gwyn) to meet some of the RCAHMW team doing the survey last Friday. This was the last day of the survey. They had been working up there for a total of 9 days during the course of the previous 3 weeks. Most of the time there were two pairs of surveyors on site.

We met two of the team, Louise Barker and Susan Fielding (the others had finished their work the previous day).

We were able to help answer a few questions that had puzzled the surveyors. It was a glorious day and an enjoyable experience.

I can't wait for the results to be made available. I am sure the information will help with any restoration project.
