Hi all
I came accross a link to megagrip ([link])
Who sell cheap climbing and caving kit.
The caving harnesses look very cheap (but still properly tested and marked) e.g. [link]

Has any one tried any of their kit ?

Yeah.. I have one of their harnesses. Very good indeed... not perfect, but nothing is. Way superior to Petzl harnesses or those awful bulky singing rock things.

Technibat. Used it exclusively (and with very regular, heavy usage) for about 2-3 years. Hung very heavy rope bags & battery drill off the loops etc... Really nice colour too Wink

Actually that does look rather good. I've never liked my Petzl Fractio, it just seems like a couple of straps, for fifty quid Angry

The straps at the rear that prevent the loops falling down the thighs are excellent and actually work Thumbs Up

They look pretty good. A couple of guys I go U/G with use rope access harnesses, which look very comfortable but bulky.

I always go for basic, minimal kit which does the job. I use a caving supplies "old yellow one" which is super. Those harnesses are in the same vein.

If caving supplies still do "the yellow ones", I recommend those. Basic, easy to clean, bombproof, necessary. Job done.

I gather that Petzl are going to do a rope access style "caving harness", with one D ring rather than their overcomplicated system. I considered one of these, but really, it's overkill unless you're painting a bridge........

I like the idea of the rigid gear loops. Have no issues with my Super Avanti generally but find that once anything of any particular weight is on the loops they get twisted and difficult to unclip things from.

I use the old yellow caving supplies sit harness & chest harness, have done so since 1981, works well.

Sadly they no longer make the sit harness, only the 50mm chest harness .

Magic tool dingdosher.

More unnecessary junk to hang more unnecessary junk from. I'll hang stuff like a chainsaw/drill off a cowstail.
