Like was mentioned a while back,about ponies been used on the farm and the mine,but the collars were changed,to prevent snagging in the roof and timbers, Its the Hames that would cause that on farm horse collars,as they protrude higher than the collar,where as the colliery hames are lower than the collar,joined by a curved bar or chain.
