Clifton Coal Mine
Posted: 18/10/2008 20:03:15 Reply | Quote I started Pushing tubs round from the creeper chain in the pit bottom, Then as supply Lad, then as conveyor mover on the coal face then getting a stint, came out of the mine due to breathing problems and worked on the surface, first with the platelayers then the fitters, I attended tech college and finally got my engineers papers, I will sort some of my papers out and add them later. I finished up as Assistant engineer travelled around the area to most mines, then finished up at Cotgrave Colliery finally Emigrating to Australia with my family in January 1969. I am 77 years old now so I dont think there will be too many around that remembers me. IP: 58.168.122.236 |

There are also a few photos of Cotgrave at this [link] including this gem, which is presumably of hydraulic roof jacks?
