Hopefully the link works, it should take you to BBC's i player where you can watch a programme about the last days of a welsh coal mine.

The programme was made in January 2008. This when Tower Colliery finally closed. That was 13 years after the miners themselves bought it when Mag the Bag and Tarzan decided it should be closed.

how many times have we wandered about in a mine and wondered how the old men carved those dark passages out of the earth,it takes a special breed to do it and for 13 years tower proved maggy and the rest it could be done,i bow to them and wish them the best for the future.
and on a lighter note lets hope someone took some photos down there before the shaft was filled.
