Posted: 06/05/2008 12:55:15 Reply | Quote ok thanks for info! I noticed there are a few chambers coming off the no9 adit before it reaches the main workings, one of which comes in close contact to the eastern workings. Anyone taken a look here? Don't know if you guys have done your recon yet. I did these last year and found they were all dead ends, both left and right. I was most intrigued by a large draught coming out of a small opening in the cave just left the main junction. The cave with all the ovens (?). The small opening went into a small chamber with about 18 inches of water and too high for my wellies. regards Otis IP: 77.96.221.247 |

The draughty chamber that you discribe is part of the huge collapse, the draught is probably going round in circles from upper levels off the neighbouring incline -- |

Posted: 06/05/2008 17:46:23 Reply | Quote There is a large open chamber in the middle area of the eastern twll (pit). It goes down quite deep and I have been down it a few days ago while walking over the Moelwyn. there is a lot of lose scree to go down and the roof area has a lot of lose rock. I only had trainers, no helmet and no light so only went down about 3/4 way so I do not know whether it leads down to tunneling or just a blockage. So if anyone goes down it all the way, let us know how you got on. -- Art thou a figment of mine imagination? Or be I one of thine? IP: 172.143.67.10 |

Posted: 14/09/2012 15:51:30 Reply | Quote I visited Rhosydd a few months ago... one of those places that just didn't feel right, was always checking the roof for cracks and loose rock. So probably unlikely that the eastern bits of Rhosydd will be entered, Barney thinks that the collapse could have filled much of the eastern workings with debris from above. I read that the 1900 fall made a large depression on Moelwyn, so maybe it would be possible to explore around here? For those extra daring people -- Lífið er svo yndislegt IP: 95.148.10.27 |

Discovered by Speedycaver a few years back - although he said there were a couple of tea lights up there so somebody else had been in at some point. Very interesting area, a bit unstable, but plenty of artifacts and well preserved because not many people find it! I read that the miners were trapped down there, although this must have just applied to the actual collapsed chambers and not to the eastern areas beyond them? -- Lífið er svo yndislegt IP: 95.148.10.27 |

I had a wander east along the adit on level 9, right to the end and none of the chambers looked terribly inviting, particularly not solo... I know you can, by the power of string, get to the head of the incline between the east and west A chambers but beyond that. -- So help me Mrs Medlicott, I don't know what to do, I've only got three bullets and there's four in Motley Crue IP: 81.157.154.168 |

After around 4 chambers (from memory, not accurate) the link is on the right hand side. There is a pile of boulders to squeeze up and through. The ground higher up is very unstable - not surprising given the collapses. -- Half the lies you tell ain't true IP: 217.44.20.40 |
